Kat-Lewisboro School Board Seeking Candidates

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – The Katonah-Lewisboro School District is seeking candidates to run for two seats on the board of education after current board members Michael Gordon and Warren Schloat announced this week they would not be seeking re-election.

Both trustees said they felt the board needs new blood and cited a desire to spend more time with their families as the reasons for not seeking another term. Gordon and Schloat each served two three-year terms on the board. Gordon acted as president from 2009 to 2011.

Prospective-candidate packets are available for district residents interested in running for one of the vacant seats and can be obtained from District Clerk Kimberly Monzon at the district office located at 186 Waccabuc Road in Goldens Bridge.

School board elections will be held May 15. A trustee’s term on the board runs for three years.

Each candidate must file a nominating petition with the district clerk in order for his or her name to appear on the ballot. The deadline to submit the nominating petition is Monday, April 16 at 5 p.m.

The Westchester-Putnam School Boards Association will host a workshop for prospective school board members on Thursday, March 29. Details on the workshop will be provided in the candidate packets.
