LEWISBORO, N.Y. – Cross River’s Adrian Eckstein was among the graduating class at Wooster School’s 84th Commencement Exercises, held Friday under a tent on the Coburn Lawn of the school’s campus in Danbury. Eckstein received the Alvah Jessup ’49 Outstanding Athlete Award.

Eckstein, the son of Heike Janssen-Eckstein and Hans-Martin Eckstein, will attend Drexel University in Philadelphia in the fall. He has been awarded the AJ Drexel Scholarship and the Drexel University Endowed Scholarship.

This year’s senior class distinguished itself by raising funds for Philadelphia’s New Jerusalem Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Center. Traditionally, Wooster students perform community service at the Rehabilitation Center during spring break. Learning of the center’s desperate budgetary needs this year, members of the Wooster senior class independently raised funds to donate.

“The fact that this class chose to make a gift beyond Wooster is phenomenal,” said the Rev. Garrett Mettler at the graduation. “The motivation of their hearts should be an inspiration to others.”

Wooster is an independent coed college preparatory day school, educating youngsters from early childhood (age 3) through senior high school. The size of the average class is 12 students. There were 26 students in the 2013 graduating class.
