After nearly 30 years as the Lewisboro Town Clerk, Kathy Cory announced her resignation at a Feb. 27 Town Board meeting.
Cory, who had married four months earlier, told the board she was moving with her new husband to Warren, Conn.
Cory was named Town Clerk of the Year in 2010 by the New York State Town Clerk’s Association. She said she had been a Lewisboro resident since 1965.
“I have no idea how many hours I’ve put in or how many pages I’ve typed,” she said about her tenure as town clerk. “But I’ve worked for the Town of Lewisboro for most of my adult life.”
Members of the town board said they were sorry to see Cory go. Supervisor Peter Parsons, who was elected to the post in November 2011, said Cory had been instrumental in helping him acclimate to his new job.
Board member John Pappalardo said he’d worked closely with Cory on several occasions and was always impressed by her work ethic.
“The town is indebted to you,” he told Cory when she announced her resignation. “This is a bittersweet moment.”
The Town Board unanimously voted to appoint Deputy Town Clerk Janet Donohue to fill Cory’s position
