LWV Slates Voter Registration In Cross River

CROSS RIVER, N.Y. – The League of Women Voters will register voters at the Orchard Square shopping center in front of DeCicco’s Family Market at routes 121 and 35 on Tuesday starting at 10 a.m.

Residents can also register any weekday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Westchester County Board of Elections, 25 Quarropas St., White Plains.

The Board of Elections will also have a voter registration table at the Somers Town House, 335 Route 202, Somers, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 10 and from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. Although the deadline for registration is Oct. 12, applications will also be accepted on Oct. 13. For more information go to http://citizenparticipation.westchestergov.com or www.elections.ny.gov.

To register online as a new voter or to re-register, go to http://nationalvoterregistrationday.org/register to-vote and answer a few simple questions.

If you are already a registered voter, there is no need to re-register. You must re-register if you have moved to a new address or if you have changed your name.

To vote in the November election, you must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old before Election Day (Tuesday, Nov. 6). You also must have lived at your present address at least 30 days before the election and not claim the right to vote anywhere else. People who have been judged mentally incompetent or those in prison or on parole for felony convictions also are barred from voting.
