“Mrs. Eaker’s strong government accounting experience highly qualifies her for the position,” said Committee Co-Chair, Christina Rae. Eaker is currently the accountant in Lewisboro’s Finance Department, where her duties include managing the town payroll, union dues, unemployment benefits and retiree medical payments. She also administers payments for the New York State Retirement fund.
She has been assistant to the Lewisboro Town Clerk, served part-time in the Somers Town Finance Department and worked for Texaco, Inc. as a senior auditor in the International Department.
Eaker lives in Cross River with her husband and two daughters, both students at John Jay. She has been active in the community with the Girl Scouts, the South Salem Fire Department’s annual carnival, the Lewisboro Garden Club, the Katonah-Lewisboro PTA and the Lions Club.
“You may have spotted her with other Lions a couple of weeks ago cleaning the 100-year-old Bailey Monument opposite the Fifth Division in Cross River,” added Co-Chair Alan Cole. “Or serving hamburgers at the LBA (Lewisboro Baseball Association) opening day, or helping to mount bluebird houses in the Old Field Preserve.”
Cole said Eaker’s community involvement and past experience show she is “uniquely qualified” to be Receiver of Taxes.
