Donohue said Morris called her Tuesday at midnight night to concede.

As of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the unofficial results show Donohue ahead, 3,153 to 2,182, with only District 10 yet to be counted.

“District 10 had a problem with one of their machines – a button broke off,” Donohue said.

Even if Morris received every vote in that district, it still wouldn’t have been enough to overcome Donohue's lead.

Donohue, Lewisboro’s former deputy town clerk, was appointed town clerk in March when Kathy Cory resigned. Donohue will now fill out the remaining three years of Cory’s term.

“I would like to thank all of my supporters for their help and assistance in my campaign,” Donohue said. “I appreciate everyone’s efforts and I look forward to continuing my service to the residents of Lewisboro.”

Donohue also thanked Morris, who she said ran a fair campaign.

“I wish him the best in the future,” she said.

Donohue said that working alongside Supervisor Peter Parsons, the Town Board, town employees and the Emergency Operations Team led by Adam Ochs during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy made her even more appreciative of the dedication to public service that “makes Lewisboro a wonderful and unique community.”

“There are too many individuals to thank,” she said. “I hope to reach out to everyone in the coming days. But I do want to recognize  Deputy Town Clerk Mary Hafter for her tireless service, especially in the wake of Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath.

“I pledge to continue to work hard for all residents to provide the information and services that they require and expect.”
