During the special detail on Wednesday, Jan. 10 in Bedford and North Castle, 52 motorists were cited for speeding on the interstate while another 28 were issued for failure to wear a seatbelt, distracted driving and various other vehicle and traffic infractions.
In total, 80 tickets were doled out by troopers during the detail.
The detail comes on the heels of several similar details on I-684 late last year, that saw troopers issue more than 100 tickets on several dates. State police have also conducted similar special details on the Sprain Brook Parkway and I-95 during the fall and winter.
According to police, these details will continue throughout the year as troopers make an effort to curtail dangerous driving and keep highways safe for motorists.
