Police were dispatched to the home on Sunny Ridge Road in the Lake Katonah section of town on Friday at around 4:30 p.m. on a burglary complaint. State police were also called to the scene.
The son of Richard Wilson, the house’s owner, told police he’d been taking care of the home for the past nine months while his father was in jail. He said that sometime between Feb. 12 and 20 someone broke in through a side door using a tool that may have been screwdriver. Stereo equipment, a radio, a high-quality camera and optical equipment, a 50-inch flat-screen TV, and household items that included a small antique jewelry box, were stolen.
Wilson, 78, has been in jail on $50,000 cash bail since May 24 of last year when he was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony. He was accused of shooting his neighbor in the back of her head. https://lewisboro.dailyvoice.com/news/police-lewisboro-man-shoots-neighbor-head
The woman said she was preparing to enter her home when she heard a loud bang and experienced severe pain in the back of her head. She ran into her house, believing that she had just been shot, and called for help. She was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco for treatment. Her injuries were not life-threatening.
Police said Wilson fled the area but was found a short time later in the Goldens Bridge Shopping Plaza by investigating troopers and was arrested without incident. Police never disclosed a motive for the shooting.
A later search of Wilson's residence resulted in the seizure of a quantity of firearms, police said, including two unregistered handguns and a large quantity of ammunition.
Wilson’s case has been continued several times since last May and he remains in Westchester County Jail. He is due back in court on April 1.
The state police have taken over the investigation into the burglary of his home.
The following items were also reported by the Lewisboro police:
- On Feb. 18, police were called to residence on Cross Pond Road for a possible break-in. The officer noted that a garage door leading into the house had been kicked open and the door molding and lock had been shattered. After calling for assistance, officers checked the interior of the home but discovered nothing out of place. State troopers arrived and the case was turned over to them.
- On Feb. 19, police were called to a residence on Chapel Road in Waccabuc on a fraud investigation. The resident told police someone had attempted to buy an electronic gift card valued at $750 at an online business with his debit-card number. The transaction was stopped by the online business and Chase Bank.
- Police stopped a car at the intersection of routes 35 and 121 in Cross River on Feb. 22 for having a covered rear license plate. A DMV check revealed that the driver was an unlicensed operator. The vehicle was impounded.
- On Feb. 23, police were called to a Mill River Road residence in South Salem for what was reported as an “unknown medical” emergency. Police discovered that a child at the home had lodged a LEGO toy piece into his right nasal passage where it was “firmly ensconced.” The EMT from Westchester EMS told officers that it was too far up the child’s nasal passage for him to attempt to remove it. The child and his mother were transported to Norwalk Hospital for further treatment.
