LEWISBORO, N.Y. The four Lewisboro teens who were arrested last June for spraying an Elmwood Road home with anti-Semitic graffiti have pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated harassment, a class E felony.
According to Westchester County District Attorney Office spokesmen Lucian Chalfen, Christopher Grispin of South Salem and Michael Skalaski of Goldens Bridge plead guilty on Nov. 14 in Westchester County Court. Michael Trapasso of South Salem and Daniel Mitchell of Cross River plead guilty on Nov. 21. The suspects ranged in ages 17 to 18 at the time of their arrest.
Chalfen said that the four will be sentenced on Feb. 27. He said a deal was worked out between the DAs office, the defense attorneys and the judge that calls for a sentence of 500 hours of community service, five years probation as youthful offenders, and monetary restoration for the damages they caused to the Schecter residence by spraying swastikas and other anti-Semitic slurs on their house, as well as three postal vehicles they defaced on the same night.
The sentence is contingent on the teens good behaviour prior to sentencing as well as reporting on time for probation. As long as they dont get involved in any other transgressions that will be the sentence, Chalfen said.
The four teens also appeared Monday night, Nov. 28, in Lewisboro Town Court on misdemeanor charges of making graffiti and third-degree criminal tampering. The case was adjourned to March 12, 2012 because those charges are likely to be included in the felony plea in February. A charge of third-degree criminal mischief was also included in the aggravated harassment guilty plea deal.
The crime was originally given hate crime status but that stipulation was later removed.
