Supermarket Union Backs Frei-Pearson for Assembly

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – UFCW Local 1500, New York State’s largest supermarket workers union, representing more than 23,000 men and women, has endorsed Jeremiah Frei-Pearson, Democratic candidate for the New York State Assembly’s 89th district, which encompasses the towns of Lewisboro, Pound Ridge, Bedford, New Castle, North Castle, Mount Kisco, Harrison and part of the City of White Plains.

If currently proposed redistricting maps are approved, the 89th district will become the 93rd, and North Salem will be added.

Local 1500 cited Frei-Pearson’s dedicated commitment to working families as a public interest lawyer and community leader. Local 1500 also noted that Frei-Pearson himself is the product of a union family, having a brother that serves as a member of UFCW in Mount Kisco.

“Jeremiah Frei-Pearson has shown himself to be a fierce advocate for working families. As someone who understands the fundamental concepts of workers’ rights,” said Pat Purcell, UFCW Local 1500’s director of special projects. “Working men and women can trust Jeremiah to stand up for what’s right and work toward establishing a strong economy that provides secure, fair-paying jobs for all New Yorkers. UFCW Local 1500 is proud to endorse Jeremiah Frei-Pearson.”

Frei-Pearson expressed gratitude for the endorsement.

“It’s a great honor to receive UFCW Local 1500’s endorsement,” he said. “I am proud to stand up for Westchester’s working families and I will continue to be an advocate for greater economic opportunity, fair wages, and a better standard of living for all New Yorkers.”
