The parade came the same day as the start of the fire department's annual carnival, which runs until Aug. 8. The parade began in the South Salem Hamlet center, turned onto Route 35 from Spring Street and continued west before stopping at the firehouse.
South Salem firefighters were joined by their crosstown counterparts from Golden's Bridge and Vista, which also serve the town of Lewisboro.
Fire departments from out of town included Croton Falls, Pound Ridge, Katonah, Bedford, Bedford Hills, Ridgefield, New Canaan, Redding, Montrose and Rowayton.
Some communities - they were Darien, Stamford and Danbury - had multiple fire departments in attendance.
