LEWISBORO, N.Y. Lewisboro police arrested two local teens on Saturday afternoon on charges ranging from driving while intoxicated to unlawful possession of marijuana.
At around 1:30 p.m., while conducting a radar post on Old Post Road in Cross River, police clocked a vehicle going 60 mph in a 30 mph zone. Police pulled the car over at the intersection of Old Post and North Salem roads. While interviewing the occupants, the officer noticed an open bottle of vodka on the passenger-side floor.
The driver was identified as Lauren Adamec-Filauro, 18, of South Salem and the passenger as Stephanie Williams, 18, of Katonah. Adamec-Filauro was administered several field sobriety tests by state police and was charged with DWI. During a search of her handbag, a small glassine envelope of what police said was marijuana was found. A search of Williams handbag revealed a glass smoking pipe with marijuana residue, police said.
A DMV check revealed that Adamec-Filauros licenses was suspended for failing to answer a summons in Lewisboro Town Court and that the vehicles registration was expired.
Adamec-Filauro was issued appearance tickets for unlawful possession of marijuana and possession of an alcoholic beverage by someone under 21 as well as a summons for driving without a valid drivers license. Williams received appearance tickets for unlawful possession of marijuana and possession of an alcoholic beverage by someone under 21.
Adamec-Filauro was transported to state police headquarters in Somers for processing for the DWI charge and the car was picked up by her father, who also took custody of Williams.
The two are due to appear in court on Jan. 23.

A woman reported that while jogging on Kitchawan Road in South Salem the day before, a dog came charging and barking at her. The owner was able to call the dog back. The woman said she has seen the dog on the street before and was afraid of it. The dogs owner said he owns two of the breed and they have gotten through the electronic invisible fence during power outages. He said he was working with a trainer who trying to teach them not to chase and bark at people when they come by the residence. Neither dog was registered with the town and the vaccination tags were dated 2007. The owner was told to get the proper paperwork for the vaccination tags within two days and obtain the required licenses at the Town House.
The dog control officer (DCO) contacted Lewisboro police to provide an officer as a witness for an abandoned animal complaint she was investigating. The dog owner and the DCO arrived at police headquarters to sign a permission slip stating the owner no longer wanted the two dogs he had abandoned in Lewisboro and North Salem. The man signed a waiver and stated he no longer has rights to the dogs and the DCO could return the dogs over to the original breeder, where he had purchased them for $3,800.

Police were called to residence on East Street in South Salem for a domestic disturbance complaint. When police arrived the parties were already separated. Officers spoke with the female, who was in an upstairs bedroom with her son. They then interviewed the male, who said he would leave the home so things could calm down. Officers informed the woman of her rights and where she could get assistance.
Police observed a Nissan Pathfinder stuck in the mud on the side of Route 35. The driver informed officers he had contacted a tow truck and no police assistance would be needed.

Police received a report of a runaway child from Four Winds Hospital. Officers found the child on the front lawn of a residence on Cross River Road and the child was taken back to the hospital.
DEC. 31
Police received a call from a Chapel Road resident who said that, while walking with his grandchildren on Rockshelter Road, a big, black, SUV approached them a high rate of speed. When he motioned for the vehicle to slow down, it sped up instead and swerved around them. He was told by another neighbor who the driver was and then called the police. Police visited the home of the reported driver of the SUV, who was not home. Officers spoke to her husband instead. He was cooperative and promised to speak to his wife about the incident. Officers then spoke to the man who filed the complaint, who said he was thankful for the intervention.
Police assisted at the scene of an accident at Old Post Road and Bisbee Lane. When officers arrived, one vehicle was off the road in the wooded area west of Brisbee Lane and the second vehicle had extensive damage to the front right and was off the road across from Brisbee Lane. Both vehicles were totaled and both drivers were out of the cars and walking around. The Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported one driver to Northern Westchester Hospital Center while the driver of the second car refused transport.
