LEWISBORO, N.Y. Police arrested a North Salem man Thursday on several motor vehicle violation charges including driving without a valid drivers license. Police were reportedly driving on Mead Street when they noticed a gray pick-up truck traveling south at an excessive speed. According to police, the officer turned around to stop the truck and discovered that it had pulled into a driveway and the driver, Foster Moore, allegedly had jumped out and was trying to hide from the officer. The officer discovered that Moore, 30, of Mills Road in North Salem, had a suspended and revoked license.
The officer also discovered that the truck contained two St. Bernards, so he let Moore make a call to arrange to have the dogs picked up. Arrangements were also made to have the truck towed from the scene.
During this time, an officer from the North Salem Police Department stopped and offered to assist. New York State Police were requested as back-up so the North Salem officer could return to service. Soon after, both NYS police and the North Salem officer were called to assistant for a serious accident in North Salem and left the scene.
Moores vehicle was reportedly towed and he was taken to the Lewisboro police station for processing, where he was issued a total of four summonses. A bail of $250 was paid and Moore was released. He is due back in court on Aug. 8.
The following items were also reported by local police:
Police were called on July 20 to South Shore Drive in South Salem on a suspicious persons complaint. The caller told officers that there were eight men in a row boat who were swimming naked in Lake Waccabuc near the nature conservatory. The officers checked the area with negative results.
Police were dispatched to a Makepeace Hill residence for a suspicious person complaint. The resident told police she thought there was someone in her basement. Officers checked the area and found everything to be in order.
Police responded to town day camp at the town park to aid paramedics with a six-year-old child who was having difficulty breathing on July 21. Upon arrival, officers found the child in the camp nurses office. Police administered oxygen and attempted to calm the child. The childs arms and legs were check for insect bites but none were found. Paramedics also did an insect-bite check, but no bites were found. The Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported the child to Northern Westchester Hospital Center. The childs father was notified, who told police he would go directly to the hospital.
Police performed a welfare check on a Oakridge Drive resident in South Salem. Police had been informed that the resident had written a letter to the county executive stating that he planned to hurt himself. Adult Protective Services was also investigating. Upon arrival, officers asked the resident if they could enter the home and look around and were granted permission. The officers reported that the home was in good order and the subject did not exhibit any behavior indicating he planned to harm himself. The subject told police that he believed that his ex-wife had probably written the letter in an attempt to get him in trouble. Police notified Adult Protective Services of their findings.
Police were dispatched to Pont Street in Goldens Bridge on the report of an unconscious female on July 23. When officers arrived, Goldens Bridge Fire Department was on the scene treating the subject who was semi-conscious and lethargic. The victims husband said that they had been out and his wife had had a few glasses of wine and may have taken some prescription medication, but he was unsure. The victim was stabilized and transported to Northern Westchester Hospital Center for further treatment.
Police responded July 24 to a vandalism complaint on Route 35 in South Salem. The caller told officers he had parked his vehicle on Route 35 but said that when he returned the following day, he noticed that the rear drivers side window was broken. Nothing was removed from the vehicle and police said there are no suspects at this time.
Residents of Todd Road in Cross River called police July 24 to report suspicious people on their property. The homeowners told officers that upon arriving home, they discovered a 2011 BMW X5 on the property and then found two men walking on their deck. The house has a For Sale signed at the driveway entrance, but the homeowners said the men had no realtors or salesperson with them. The incident is particularly suspicious because the residence was burglarized last Friday evening a crime that state police are still investigating.
