Homeowner Upset Over Nyseg Take Down Of Trees

LEWISBORO, N.Y. -- A Lewisboro homeowner is upset since four trees were taken down and removed in July by New York State Energy and Gas Corp. from his property at the intersection of Adams Hill Road and Route 35, according to the Lewisboro Ledger.

The homeowner Chris DeMeo contends NYSEG went to the property to do tree trimming away from the power lines, but removed four trees instead, without notifying him, says the report.

DeMeo reportedly claimed he asked the tree crew NYSEG hired to do the work to stop cutting the trees but a crew member said they would not, according to the Lewisboro Ledger.

The town was reportedly given a presentation in March 2013 by a NYSEG manager about "pruning or clear-cutting trees that impacted power lines within its 10-foot easement," to reduce power outages in Lewisboro because of trees, says the report.

The company through a communications spokesperson reportedly claims the homeowner was notified before the trees were removed, according to the Lewisboro Ledger.
