Five Questions With Town Clerk Kathleen Cory

LEWISBORO – If you ever have business at the Lewisboro Town House, the first person you will probably be greeted by is Town Clerk Kathleen Cory. As the town’s website says, “The town clerk’s office is the ‘doorway to local government’ and is the official repository of all town minutes and records.”

All of that keeps Cory pretty busy, but she was able to take a few moments out of her hectic schedule to sit down with us and answer five questions about what her life in Lewisboro is like.

Q: What’s the best thing about living in Lewisboro?

A: What’s not to like? It’s very scenic – every time of year has its own charms, particularly autumn with the changing colors. We get to see wildlife practically every day and we have the lakes, which are beautiful.  It’s very peaceful here, yet there are plenty of things to do.

Q: What do you like best about your job?

A: Serving the people. There is no better job than that. Plus, I get to work with [Deputy Town Clerk] Janet [Donohue] every day!

Q: Where is your favorite place to go out to eat?

A: Oh, just about any place in Lewisboro. If you want formal dining, there is Le Chateau. The Horse and Hound is great, and we have lots of good places for Italian food like Bacio Trattoria and Nino’s. We have lots of great places for pizza and for deli if you just want a sandwich.

Q: What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?

A: Gardening. I love to go out and putter around the yard. I have lots of perennials.

Q: What kind of music do you like to listen to?

It really depends on the season or what I’m doing. Around the holidays, I have my favorite classical music that I like to have to on. When I do housecleaning, I like to play country music. I love country. I also like Celtic music – anything with bagpipes.
