Sunday's ceremony was organized by church member Carol Paiste, who researched and prepared brief biographies of each soldier. Community members, including Town Supervisor Peter Parsons and his family, each sponsored one of the veterans, and flags were placed on all the graves.
A representative of the Norwalk, Conn., chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution was on hand to pay tribute to Paiste for helping put together the ceremony, which was officiated by the church’s Rev. Chip Andrus.
As part of the ceremony the poem “In Flanders Field” by John McCrae was read, and Lewisboro resident Tom Gossett performed “Taps” on his trumpet.
