Letter: South Salem Biathlon Organizers Say Thanks

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – The Lewisboro Daily Voice accepts signed and original letters to the editor. To submit your letter, e-mail bdumas@dailyvoice.com.

To the Editor:

I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who came out to make our second annual Church Tavern Biathlon a wonderful day. There are so many people to thank it's hard to know where to start. Before I get too far, if you haven't seen them yet, the results are posted hereWe had 125 participants and more than 20 additional walkers.

If you were not able to participate in this event but still want to support the charities, you can do so at the following link: https://www.raceit.com/Fundraising/?event=12328. We are still finalizing the financials but they already look far better than last year.

For those of you at the event, thank you for coming and spending the day with us. Whether you helped make it happen by volunteering or participating in the race, no pre-planning in the world is worth the effort without people to share it with, so thank you all.

Many others made it happen as well and I would like to thank the Lewisboro Town Board and Town Clerk Janet Donohue for their support and encouragement, the Lewisboro Police Department for its assistance keeping us safe, and Michael Pistey for providing EMS support.

Of course, I would be remiss if I did not mention our sponsors. They afforded us the financial flexibility to provide a micro-chipped race for better and faster results, a water slide to entertain the kids (and some adults), more awards and free food. So if you enjoyed any of those aspects, please support them so they can continue to support us.

Musically, I want to personally thank both Zena Von Heppinstall for her inspired rocking songs of praise and the “four old guys” from Quadrasaurus for the great mix of their hit songs. Both played great sets.

And I can't say enough about the two men who were instrumental in helping me make this happen. Rob Cummings is the reason I believed I could try this idea last year. His experience, encouragement, and generous spirit made it possible try this idea. Jason Twedt (last year's top tankard taker) has been a huge help improving parts of the race and allowing us to nearly double the size of the race without a hiccup – my sincerest thanks to you both.
