Sample Area Produce In Pound Ridge Every Sunday

POUND RIDGE – For some, summertime means baseball, the trip to the local swimming hole, and backyard barbecues. For others, however, summer means a chance to sample and buy local produce and other products at the area’s many farmers markets.

Such aficionados will be happy to know that there is a farmers market every Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., now through November. The market takes place along Westchester Avenue in Pound Ridge’s business district, near Antiques & Tools of Business & Kitchen, whose proprietor, Joan Silbersher, oversees the event.

Attendees will be able to purchase everything from homemade jams and chutneys to soaps and candles to breads and muffins, and, of course, locally grown produce. Some of the vendors you can expect to meet include:

Upper Crust Pies – Owner Bonnie Silver has been in business for 20 years and specializes in fresh seasonal fruit pies, cakes and cookies.

Villa Maria – Proprietor John Tradito’s 26-year-old business features cheeses, breads, olives, sun-dried tomatoes and fresh mozzarella.

Maura & Muccia – You will find an array of Italian desserts at Maura & Muccia, including biscotti and Italian fruit pies. The company only uses unbleached flour in its products.

Healing Home Foods - Started this year by Shelly Schultz, the business specializes in raw/vegan/glutten-free products such as granola, crackers, hummus and dairy-free ice cream.

John Boy’s Market – John Ubaldo’s business has been around for eight years and specializes in Berkshire pork, Black Angus beef, duck eggs, smoked duck breast, bacon, fresh sausage and pasture-raised chickens.
