This was the experience for Ira, who suffered from debilitating knee pain as he aged. Seeking relief, he decided to have double knee surgery with Dr. David Yasgur at Northern Westchester Hospital. Over the span of six months, Ira had reconstructive surgeries on both knees and couldn’t have been happier with the results.
"The first time I walked up a flight of stairs, going up was not a problem, but coming down was one of the most emotional things I've ever experienced," said Ira. "I didn't have pain when I stepped down with my new knees. I literally cried.”
Ira isn't alone in experiencing an improved quality of life following knee replacement surgery. Northern Westchester Hospital has helped patients who have been significantly affected by the crippling effects of knee pain. From partial knee replacements and torn ACLs to total joint reconstructions, the goal of the Orthopedic and Spine Institute at Northern Westchester Hospital is not only to help patients regain mobility, but to give them their lives back.
“I just have to get used to this, not living in pain," said Ira. "It was a blessing that I came here."
