What To Do Around Lewisboro This Weekend

The weatherman promises a great fall weekend, so get out and enjoy one of the several harvest festivals in the area, take a ghost bus tour of the Lewisboro area, or check out the raptors visiting the Wolf Conservation Center.

Friday, Oct. 12

Fun With Music: 11 a.m. The Pound Ridge Library presents “Fun With Music,” featuring Laura D’Amico, for children ages 5 and under. Registration is required. For more information, call the library at 914-764-5085. 271 Westchester Ave., Pound Ridge.

“Turbo Tour” Music Program: 7 p.m. Composer and electric violinist Mark Wood will perform with Fox Lane school musicians as part of his 2012-13 Turbo Tour. Wood is a nationally acclaimed, Juilliard-trained musician who tours the country with his upbeat strings and music education programs. He is a founding member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The program is being underwritten by the Bedford Foundation for Art, Music and Education. Tickets will be available at the door or in advance at www.seatyourself.biz/bcsdny. Lewisboro Annual Fall Fun Fest: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The town’s annual Fall Fun Fest will be held at the Town Park and feature a Halloween pumpkin patch, crafts creations corner, play area with inflatable activities, entertainment at 12:30 p.m., face painting and refreshment area. No registration is required. Families are asked to bring a nonperishable or canned food item for donation to a local food pantry. No dogs, please. Copia’s Annual Autumn Harvest: Noon-4 p.m. Copia’s Home and Garden will host its second annual Autumn Harvest Fest featuring fun events that include a petting zoo, pick and paint a pumpkin, stuff a scarecrow, face painting, and temporary tattoos. Historic Ghost Bus Tour: 4-6 p.m. Lewisboro Town Historian Maureen Koehl will lead a tour of Lewisboro’s most haunted locations in search of ghosts. The bus departs the Town Park at 4 p.m. and will visit Vista, South Salem and the Three Lakes area. Cost is $10 per person. Pound Ridge Elementary Book Fair: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Pound Ridge Elementary School kicks off its annual book fair. Opening Day will feature a bake sale. The fair continues throughout the week up to Thursday. 7 Pound Ridge Road, Pound Ridge

Goldens Bridge Fire Department Open House: 1-4 p.m. The public is invited to the Goldens Bridge Fire Department's annual open house. The event will feature an extrication demonstration, the New Rochelle Fire Department's fire prevention simulator, fire prevention giveaways, and a tour of the equipment and facilities. 254 Waccabuc Road, Goldens Bridge.

Up, Up and Away: Two shows at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Wolf Conservation Center is celebrating National Wolf Awareness Week with a bird of prey experience presented by master falconer Lorrie Schumacher of Talons! Guests will meet, touch, and hold beautiful feathered ambassadors during the educational and interactive bird of prey experience. Make sure to bring a camera. Everyone will be given opportunities to photograph the raptors and to be photographed with them, too. Guests will also enjoy visiting ambassador wolves Atka, Alawa and Zephyr, and behold the center’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican wolves. Each guest will receive an official 2012 Wolf Awareness Week poster. There is no charge for this event, but registration is required. Sundays at 4 Concert Series: 4 p.m. The South Salem Presbyterian Church’s fall concert series, Sundays at 4, returns with renowned concert pianist Hyperion Knight, who will perform the music of George Gershwin, Andrew Lloyd Webber, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Cole Porter.
