SOUTH SALEM – One of the area’s longest running traditions kicks off this week when the South Salem Fire Department’s annual carnival opens its gates on Tuesday.

The carnival runs Tuesday, July 12, through Saturday, July 16.  It will be held on the grounds of the firehouse on Route 35 with plenty of parking available.

The carnival, which dates back to 1939, will feature rides for kids of all ages, including classics such as a Ferris wheel and bumper cars, as well as games and plenty of food concessions.

Starting times for the event are 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 5 p.m. on Saturday.
