Unseasonably Warm Weather in Harrison Continues

HARRISON, N.Y. – Like the rest of the Northeast, Harrison continues to experience unseasonably warm weather that has residents welcoming an early spring.

“It’s been absolutely beautiful outside,” said resident Jean Glorio. “I walk a lot and this gives me an opportunity to get out of my house more often. I don’t think it will stay like this next winter but I just take every day as it comes.”

According to the National Weather Service’s website, the temperature is supposed to stay around 67 degrees for Tuesday and Wednesday, with sun sticking around later in the week.

Resident Leon Nolletti loves the warm weather and said that he doesn’t miss the cold at all. With the brutal winter the Northeast experienced last year, Noletti is happy that the region didn’t experience a similar winter this year.

“We’ve had snow on St. Patrick’s Day and even Easter in years past,” Nolletti said. “I don’t miss the snow at all.”

According to The Weather Channel’s website, the average temperature in Harrison in March ranges between 29 and 47 degrees. But temperatures have been as low as six degrees and as high as 82 degrees in previous years.

Travis David, who was waiting for a bus on Halstead Avenue around 4 p.m. on Monday, is happy that the region is getting an “early summer.”

“I wish I would have worn shorts today,” David said. “It usually starts getting nice around the end of March but even though this is early for nice weather I don’t mind it.”
