Westchester 'Bicycle Sundays' Schedule Released Cyclists will soon be able to enjoy the colorful foliage on a stretch of the Bronx River Parkway with the return of "Bicycle Sundays." Westchester County officials announced that a portion of the parkway is set to close to vehicles for the exclusive use of bicyclists, joggers, walkers, scooters, and strollers on select dates in September and October. The course will run from the Westchester County Center in White Plains south to Scarsdale Road in Yonkers, for a round-trip of 13.1 miles, officials reported. The Westchester Parks Foundation and Westchester County Parks announced that Bicycle Sundays will begin on Sunday, May 5, when a stretch of the Bronx River Parkway will be closed for cyclists. Each year since 1974, more than 60,000 participants have biked, walked and jogged on a 13.1-mile loop of the parkway from White Plains to Yonkers. Nearly seven miles of the Bronx River Parkway will be closed to motorists between White Plains and Yonkers on Sunday, May 6 for the first of a summer's worth of bicycle freedom.
