Hazmat Team Called After Broken Thermometer Spills Mercury In Westchester Home A hazmat team was called to a Northern Westchester home after a broken thermometer spilled toxic mercury inside the residence, fire officials said. Carbon Monoxide Scare Leads To Evacuation Of Townhomes In Westchester A carbon monoxide scare led to the evacuation of several townhomes in Northern Westchester. First responders from the Chappaqua Fire Department responded to Chappaqua Crossing off Bedford Road shortly before 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 5, when a transformer exploded, causing high levels of carbon monoxide.
