Salmonella Outbreak Linked To Turkey Hits 26 States, Including NY Ninety people in 26 states, including New York and New Jersey, have become sickened in an ongoing outbreak of Salmonella linked to raw turkey products, according to health officials. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it is working to pinpoint the origin of the outbreak that has led to at least 40 hospitalizations. The CDC said consumers and retailers should properly cook turkey before consumption and that it was not recommending people avoid turkey products altogether. A single, common supplier of raw turkey products or of live turkeys has not been identified.
