This County In Region Now Leads State In Job Growth, Report Says Those looking for work would do well to check out one New York county above all others. Sullivan County is leading the entire state - even New York City - in job growth, according to a new report from the state Department of Labor. Private-sector job growth in Sullivan County grew 9.1 percent year-over-year for September 2022, the report found. For comparison, New York City had a 6.8 percent job growth rate during the same period. Hudson Valley Man Nabbed For 3 Commercial Burglaries, Arrested For Shoplifting, Police Say A man from the region who had been nabbed for three alleged commercial burglaries was arrested again for shoplifting at a Walmart store. Sullivan County resident Justus McMoore, age 37, of Monticello, was arrested on Saturday, Oct. 22 in the town of Thompson after a brief foot chase. According to Sullivan County Undersheriff Eric Chaboty,  McMoore was spotted by security staff in Walmart allegedly shoplifting $161 dollars worth of merchandise.  When he was confronted by security, McMoore ran out of the store and headed south on Route 42, police said. Man Who Stepped Out Of Vehicle After Crash With Deer Struck, Killed By SUV In Hudson Valley A 70-year-old man was hit and killed by an SUV  when he stepped out of a vehicle to inspect the damage after hitting a deer. The incident took place in Sullivan County around 6:40 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21 in the town of Mamakating, said Trooper Steven Nevel, of the New York State Police. Police are investigating after a man was found dead on a bench in a shopping center parking lot in the region. The incident took place in Sullivan County around noon on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the Mountain Mall in Monticello. According to Lt.
