Man Found Shot In Head As Officers Investigate Crash In Westchester, Police Say A man is hospitalized after he was shot in the head outside his vehicle, possibly following a car crash in Westchester, police said. Officers from the Mount Vernon Police Department responded to a South 9th Avenue apartment building shortly before 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, where there was a report of a motor vehicle crash. Police said that upon arrival, officers found a 38-year-old man from Mount Vernon on the ground outside of his car with a gunshot wound to the head.
