A school district in Westchester is reporting a new case of COVID-19 exposure. Edward A. Kliszus, Superintendent of the Port Chester-Rye Union Free School District, announced Thursday night, Oct. 22 that the district was informed that an individual with COVID was at King Street Elementary School while infectious. A positive COVID-19 case has been confirmed at a school in the Hudson Valley. The Port Chester-Rye Union Free School District reported early Monday evening, Oct. 19 that an individual with COVID-19 was at John F. Kennedy Elementary School while infectious. The exposed individuals must quarantine for 14 days from the last exposure date and should be tested for COVID-19 five days after the last exposure. Port Chester Approves $11M Middle School Repairs On Second Bond Vote
Port Chester voters passed the school district’s $11 million bond project with 60 percent of the public's support. Tuesday's approval allows the Port Chester-Rye Union Free School District to begin emergency safety improvements at Port Chester Middle School. Port Chester Attempts Second Bond Vote For $11M Middle School Repairs
Port Chester schools are giving it another try, proposing an $11 million bond issue for major repairs at the district's middle school. In February, by only 53 votes, residents of the Port Chester-Rye Union Free School District narrowly defeated a $12.5 million renovation project with most of the work planned at Port Chester Middle School. The second vote is 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5 in the middle school gymnasium. Bowl For College Scholarships: Byron Womack Fundraiser This Weekend
Friends, students and teaching associates of Byron Womack, a very popular assistant principal at Port Chester Middle School, have organized a singles bowling tournament in his memory. Womack was found dead on Feb. 20 at the age of 48 of natural causes. All proceeds from the bowling tournament will go to the Byron Womack Scholarship Fund.
