Search For Missing Man Causes Closures Of Area Lake Lake Carmel is closed to swimmers and boaters as emergency responders search for a missing man. The Lake Carmel Fire Department said it was dispatched on a report of a missing swimmer at around 7:35 p.m. Saturday, July 20. The man has been identified as a Connecticut resident in his 50s. The department was assisted in the search by the Carmel Fire Department, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department dive team and Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Kent Police. Motorcyclist Rushed To Westchester Medical Center After Crash Near Market A motorcyclist was hospitalized after crashing near a grocery store in the area on Sunday morning, April 7. The crash occurred in the area in front of Red Mills Market on Route 6N in Mahopac Falls. Mahopac Falls Fire, EMS and Fire Police, along with multiple units from Carmel Police and Paramedics from EMStar, arrived within minutes of the dispatch, authorities said.
