Busy Westchester Roadway To See Weekslong Lane Closures
There will be a weekslong lane closure on Central Park Avenue in Westchester. The Yonkers Police Department issued an alert noting that the left lane of Central Park Avenue between Mile Square Road and the Cross County Parkway will be closed beginning this week as contracting crews continue utility service repair operations. The project is estimated to last for 24 hours a day, up to six or eight weeks. During the scope of the project, motorists can expect longterm delays and should seek alternate routes, police said.

Central Avenue Lane Closures Announced In Westchester
There will be lane closures for the rest of the day on a busy Yonkers roadway as crews make emergency utility repairs. The Yonkers Police Department issued an alert on Monday, cautioning that there will be northbound lane closures on Central Park Avenue from Mile Square Road to the Cross County Parkway. Police said that the left lane will be closed until approximately 11 p.m. for Utility Service emergency repair. Commuters can expect delays in the area and have been instructed to seek alternate routes, when possible. Check Daily Voice for updates on the repairs.

The driver of a BMW that crashed on Central Avenue last year and killed 19-year-old Nina Cordero in Yonkers and injured her boyfriend has been sentenced to a term of between three and nine years in state prison. Bridge To Be Named For Slain Westchester Pro Baseball Prospect
City officials in Yonkers are set to dedicate the Stockbridge Road in honor of Michael Nolan, a former city resident and Oakland Athletics baseball prospect who was shot and killed in the city in September 2015.
