State Police Warn Of Uptick Of Vehicle Larcenies, Thefts From Gas Stations
New York State Police are again reminding motorists to lock their vehicles and to remove all valuables after a stolen vehicle was used in two larcenies. Trooper AJ Hicks said the department has seen an increase in the number of larcenies from vehicles over the past year and has recently investigated larcenies from vehicles left unattended at gas station pumps. A police officer is in serious condition following a crash with a man driving a stolen vehicle in Westchester. The incident took place around 2 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29, when an unmarked Yonkers Police unit was working a crime suppression detail in the area of Central Park Avenue in response to recent commercial burglaries which include local car dealerships, said Detective Lt. Two Busted After Crashing While Stealing Car In Westchester, Police Say
A pair of would-be car thieves didn’t make it far after crashing a stolen vehicle shortly after leaving a Westchester driveway. Officers from the New Rochelle Police Department responded to Davis Avenue at approximately 4 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, where there was a report of a one-vehicle crash where the driver struck a utility pole. Duo Wanted After Car Stolen In Westchester With Keys In Ignition
Know them or this car? New York State Police investigators in Northern Westchester issued an alert as they look to identify two suspects who allegedly stole a car that was left unlocked with the keys in the ignition. Police said that a 2018 Honda CRV was stolen from a parking area on Titicus Road in North Salem. The vehicle was later recovered by investigators on Peach Lake Road. According to police, the investigation found that the two suspects later traveled to Walmart in Branford, Connecticut, where they were caught on camera. Car thieves in Westchester apparently haven’t been adhering to “stay at home” orders during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as reports of stolen cars continue to rise. According to Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. and the Westchester Intelligence Committee, automobile thefts from January to March this year rose 57.4 percent from the same time last year. In April alone, there were 69 vehicles reported stolen, a 94.3 percent increase from a year ago. Five teenage residents of a residential treatment center in Westchester are behind bars after allegedly stealing two cars. Police in Dobbs Ferry received a report at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12 of two cars that had been stolen from a Hatch Terrace residence.
