He grew up in the Battle Hill area and was a nostalgic fan of the old White Plains, where he often sat on the steps of the old courthouse with friends  and walked Main St. Nino graduated from White Plains High School in 1962 and/or 1963. More than 75 firefighters battled the blaze that started around 9:44 p.m. Tuesday in the basement of a home on Anita Road, said the Somers Fire Department. The fire, which spread to the first and second floor, left the homeowner, Nancy Haggerty, a lifetime Somers resident, without any belongings and missing her four cats.
