Rebollal, Smith Lift Manhattanville Women's Soccer

MAHWAH, N.J. – Juniors Morgan Rebollal and Brittney Smith scored less than two minutes apart early in the second half and the Valiant defense held strong as the Manhattanville women's soccer team posted its second straight win with a 2-1 victory over Ramapo College Wednesday at the Ramapo Soccer Field.

Down 1-0 in the second half, Manhattanville allowed a shot and ceded a pair of corner kicks in the first five minutes of the second half, but turned the momentum when Rebollal knotted up the score at the 51:34 mark with an unassisted goal. Just 89 seconds later, Smith scored her second score of the year – and second game-winner – into the back of the net to put the visitors up 2-1.

The rest of the match belonged to freshman goal keeper Bridget Miranda and the Manhattanville defense, as Miranda turned aside all 11 shots she faced in the second half to pick up her first collegiate victory. Miranda turned aside 14 of the 15 shots she faced.

Manhattanville (2-10-0) will kick off a string of five consecutive Freedom Conference matches on Saturday, as the Valiants travel to Dallas, Pa., to take on Misericordia at 1 p.m.
