Approximately 1,100 students from 14 countries will receive degrees at the college’s 43rd annual commencement ceremony, according to a press release.
Purchase College also will honor outstanding leaders with honorary degrees, including playwright David Henry Hwang, PepsiCo chair and CEO Indra Nooyi and Debora Spar, president of Barnard College.
Stephen Vitiello, a member of the Class of 1986 and a sound artist, will be receiving this year’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
“Though many look at graduation as an end, the word commencement itself refers to a beginning,” Thomas Schwarz, president of Purchase College, said in a press release. “I have no doubt that this year’s graduating class will continue in the Purchase tradition of 'Thinking Wide Open' as they forge new pathways in the liberal arts, humanities, natural and social sciences and performing and visual arts.”
The Westchester County Center is at 198 Central Ave., White Plains.
Tickets will be required for entrance. The doors for the commencement exercises will open at 11 a.m. The procession will begin at 12:30 p.m. and the ceremony will start at 1 p.m.
