HARRISON, N.Y. -- School of the Holy Child recently welcomed Melissa Dan as the new head of the school during an installation ceremony with more than 400 guests.
Officially installed by Sister Mary Ann Buckley, the leader of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus’ American Province and blessed by the Rev. Thomas Collins, former trustee and president of Archbishop Stepinac High School, Dan expressed that she was “called to come to Holy Child to use my passion to effect change for the better.”
Dan has a depth of experience in all facets of school operations, including program, institutional advancement, enrollment management, fundraising, strategic planning and governance.
She has worked as a counselor, special education teacher, middle school teacher and principal in both public and Catholic schools. Most recently, she served as principal of St. Clement in Chicago.
“It is my great privilege to serve as the new head of school at Holy Child. Knowing the tremendous tradition and legacy that I will be entrusted with is not only an honor but a responsibility that I gladly embrace,” Dan said. “I am joining Holy Child at a momentous time. I look forward to building upon its esteemed legacy and leading School of the Holy Child for years to come.”
At the ceremony, Dan promised students and faculty that she would lead the school “with all her might” and called on students to embrace their passions, take risks and become “women of conscience and action,” referencing a quote by Kavita Ramdas, the India representative for the Ford Foundation.
