Julie Bates, Special Education
Ms. Bates earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a master’s degree in special education from Teachers College at Columbia University. Since 2008, Ms. Bates has served as a behavior analyst and program supervisor at the Hawthorne Country Day School. She has also worked for private agencies in Westchester County as a behavior analyst for students with autism.
Kristin Casey, Biology
Ms. Casey was awarded an academic merit scholarship and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Marist College. She also holds a master’s degree in science education from Mercy College, where she obtained certification in biology and special education. Ms. Casey completed her student teaching at Lakeland High School and has served as a Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) program director for the Boy Scouts of America.
Brittany DeGrazia, Mathematics
Ms. DeGrazia holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and secondary education from Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree in teaching and curriculum from Teachers College at Columbia University. This past year, Ms. DeGrazia taught algebra, trigonometry and pre?calculus at Carmel High School. She has also tutored students in algebra, geometry and calculus.
John DeLeo, Earth Science
Mr. DeLeo graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Earth science and secondary education from Molloy College. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in geoscience at Stony Brook University. Mr. DeLeo completed his student teaching in Earth science in the Plainedge Central School District and served as a leave replacement Earth science teacher in the East Meadow School District on Long Island.
Christopher Elsesser, Business
Mr. Elsesser graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and business management from Siena College and holds a master’s degree in business administration from Fairfield University. For the past five years, Mr. Elsesser has taught business in the Smithtown Central School District on Long Island. He has also served as a college admissions recruiter for Siena College.
