According to police officials, on Wednesday morning, investigators from the New Rochelle Police Department, Westchester County of Department of Public Safety and special agents from the FBI and Drug Enforcement Agency were dispatched throughout the city to search and execute arrest warrants on “a significant number of individuals involved in drug trafficking operations in the city.”
The operation – dubbed City Sweeper 3 – concluded a seven-month investigation. As of noon on Wednesday, 49 individuals were identified during the operation and will be charged with various criminal possession and criminal sales charges. According to police, many of the individuals are facing multiple counts and charges.
Police got an early start on Nov. 4, making their first arrest at 1:46 a.m. They would continue to bring in suspects throughout the morning, with the latest at 11:11 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the New Rochelle Police Department had 38 of those individuals already in custody, and “are continuing efforts to locate the remaining targets still at large.” The remaining suspects are expected to be apprehended by the conclusion of the sweep.
