Mary Cherico, 86, Of Harrison; Retired From New York Telephone Company

HARRISON, N.Y. – Mary Cherico, 86, of Harrison, died Friday, Jan. 23.

Born Dec. 15, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Aurora Romita.

Mary worked at the New York Telephone Company for 25 years, also serving as president of Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a devoted volunteer, especially at Rosary Hill Nursing Home.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen (Bonnie) Cherico and Robert (Amalia) Cherico; two brothers, Nick Romita and Arthur Romita; two sisters, Angelina Addeo and Grace Romita; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Carmine Cherico; one son, Richard Cherico; and one granddaughter, Christina, preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at St. Anthony of Padua, 85 Harrison St., West Harrison. Interment will be at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, 767 E. Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck.
