Askwith, who was known as Bert, was born in Battle Creek, Mich., in 1911, to Herbert and Margaret (Long) Askwith.
A graduate of the University of Michigan in 1931, Askwith was the founder and president of Campus Coach Lines, where he continued to work full-time until his death. He was also the founder and president of Campus and Pocono Travel Service of New York City and White Plains.
Askwith was a long-time board member of the United Way of Westchester and Putnam, a founding member of the Jewish Community Center of Harrison, and a member of the Armonk Tennis Club.
He was also a founder of the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust in New York City, and a National Campaign board member for the University of Michigan.
His wife of nearly 60 years, Miriam Teidor, died in 2001.
He is survived by three children: Patti Kenner of New York City, Dennis Askwith of Gaithersburg, Md., and Kathy Franklin of New York City; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
