Thousands in Harrison Without Power

HARRISON, N.Y. - More than 1,000 Harrison residents are without power as of 10 a.m. Sunday morning, according to Consolidated Edison. Hurricane Irene moved in with full force early on and will remain throughout the day.

The outages have sparked from fallen trees and intense flooding throughout the region.

Downtown Harrison has already become inundated with flooding as the eye of Hurricane Irene makes its way over the area. The eye of the storm reached New York City close to 9:00 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

It is encouraged that residents stay inside throughout this storm and do not attempt to drive or travel unitl it has passed. Some vehicles have been reported as submerged in water and there are several areas throughout down with loose debris.
