Manhattanville President Resigns

President of Manhattanville College Molly Easo Smith resigned this week after two years at the helm of the college. Chairman of the Board of Trustees Robert Hall will serve as acting president until an interim president is selected.

According to Manhattanville spokesperson J.J. Pryor, Smith achieved the goals and objectives for which she was appointed, including "the recruitment of a strong leadership team, refocusing the college's commitment to its core values of academic excellence, civic engagement and social action, and the engagement of alumni to the Manhattanville College community."

Pryor said that after an interim president is appointed, a search committee would be formed to conduct "extensive" research in selecting the college's next president.

Smith was appointed to the college in July 2009 after the 15-year tenure of former President Richard A. Berman.

In 2011, Smith, Manhattanville's 11th president, was inducted into the Westchester Business Council's hall of fame. She also served in the past as dean to Seton Hall University in New Jersey and provost to Massachusetts's Wheaton College.
