The seven-hour wake was understandably sad and solemn, with groups of Harrison High School students hugging and crying outside the funeral home on East Boston Post Road.

Alissa, 17, and Deanna, 13, were murdered in their sleep on Saturday by their 52-year-old father, Glen. The recently retired White Plains police officer also killed three family dogs before shooting himself to death in the garage at 1 Adelphia Ave., Harrison.

Anamarie DiPietro-Hochman, and the couple's 22-year-old daughter, Samantha, were not home at the time of the shootings. Police said they had recently discussed separating due to marital problems.

A funeral mass for the Hochman sisters is at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, 215 Halstead Ave., Harrison. Burial is private.

Harrison Police Chief Anthony Marraccini said detailed computer-generated suicide notes left by Glen Hochman after 2 a.m. Saturday indicated "the killings were premeditated." Hochman told his wife what she "needed to do to get things in order for the family,'' Marraccini said at a Monday news conference. "He did indicate in the letter that the two girls were taken away."

The double-murder suicide was discovered by Alissa's teenage boyfriend, who entered the garage at the request of Mrs. Hochman as she drove back from Mohegan Sun Casino on Saturday afternoon.
