HARRISON, N.Y. - Galina Chernykh was named the new director for the Harrison Public Library last week. Chernykh brings more than 20 years of library experience to the role, including experience with the New York Public Library.
"It is very exciting for me to have the opportunity to work with a fantastic group of library trustees, library staff and friends of the library that are committed to providing top notch services to our community," Chernykh said.
In her 10 years at The New York Public Library, Chernykh said she carried out advocacy campaigns to ensure funding, built partnerships within the community and implemented reading programs and computer classes. She also created active teen spaces and reached out to non-library users and engaged them through social media.
"I look forward to doing similar things here in Harrison," Chernykh said.
