Harrison Advances in MSG's 'The Challenge'

HARRISON, N.Y. - With Pearl River down, Harrison's MSG Varsity "The Challenge" team will now set their sites on Rye Neck High School.

The five-student Harrison team ousted Pearl River in the first round of the local television game show and will face off against Rye Neck on March 7 at 6:30 p.m. The team was selected by advisors Rachel Voss and Heath Kaplan and has excelled in the show's first round, answering trivia questions in different categories.

Harrison's Emma Adler, Jacob Seidman, Robert Tiburzi, Rachel Oestreicher and Daniel Glass were chosen to represent the school out of 25 total students who tried out for the team.

"We have been putting in a lot of work and hope to see this program grow at Harrison High School," Kaplan said when the team was initially assembled for the show. "Our goal is to expand the team so that we can enter Quiz Bowl tournaments around the tri-state area."

Kaplan said the team would continue practicing to stay prepared for the next round. Students sharpen their skills by competing against different Harrison teachers and parents.

Harrison defeated Pearl River in their first match up, which aired Dec. 21 on MSG Varsity, and qualified them to advance to the next round. They will advance to the regional brackets, and if successful, could compete against teams from Long Island, New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut with several opportunities for prizes throughout their journey.
