SUNY Purchase Professor Nominated For Emmy Award

PURCHASE, N.Y. – David Grill, who teaches theatre design/stage and is a SUNY Purchase alum, has received an Emmy Award nomination for his work as lighting director for Madonna’s Super Bowl XLVI halftime show, according to the SUNY Purchase website.

Grill was nominated for “Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Special.” Grill won the Emmy in 2002 for his lighting at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

An estimated 114 million TV viewers watched Madonna perform, making it the most watched halftime show in history, SUNY Purchase said.

The 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be shown Sept. 23 on ABC.
