PURCHASE, N.Y. - John R. Bronzo, a former division president of the Singer Company and Purchase resident, died Oct. 6, less than a month after his 90th birthday.
Bronzo was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Sept. 16, 1921. The son of the late John Bronzo and Lucy Rocco, he graduated from Lincoln High School in Brooklyn and went on to attend Fordham University. Following his university graduation, Bronzo served his country during World War II.
Bronzo, who liked to share time between his homes in Purchase and Kiawah Island, S.C., worked for The Singer Company for 35 years. He rose up in ranks to the position of President of the Latin American Division, responsible for the territories of Mexico, Central America and all of South America. Bronzo's division managed the operations of eight factories and a large network of retail stores.
Bronzo left the Singer Company in 1983 and joined Ditri and Associates. For the following 10 years, he acted as a consultant specializing in operations. His favorite activity was spending time his family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Gloria R. (Petrocine) Bronzo, his sons John F. Bronzo and wife Carole of Goldens Bridge, Paul A. Bronzo of Purchase, Mark P. Bronzo and wife Diane of White Plains and Neal A. Bronzo and Elizabeth of West Harrison, his daughter Anne C. Colling of Fairfax, Va., 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. A memorial mass is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church in White Plains.
