Ida 'Babe' Caponera, 84, of West Harrison

WEST HARRISON, N.Y. – Ida "Babe" Fuscaldo Caponera of West Harrison died on the morning of Tuesday, May 29. She was 84.

She was born Sept. 7, 1927, in Cos Cob, Conn., to Joseph and Anna Columbo Fuscaldo. She married Vincent "Jimmy" Caponera on Sept. 18, 1948.

Ida Caponera loved a good garage sale and would boast of the bargains she took home. She had a passion for baking, especially Christmas cookies, and was famous for her cuplets, made only on special occasions or holidays. Caponera enjoyed playing pinochle with her family and watching the New York Yankees.

She was predeceased by her husband and eight siblings, Santa, Mary, Tony, Pat, Yolanda, Jay, Nell and Bill. She is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Dominick) Massaro; a son, James (Shari) Caponera; four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Church in West Harrison. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Greenburgh.
