NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- John Palomino admits that for most of his life, he was ashamed and embarrassed to talk about his father, who committed suicide when he was 6-years-old. And so, the New Rochelle native put his efforts into a movie that deals with the topic.
"Man of the House," premiering at the Pelham Picture House Saturday, May 6, was filmed in and around New Rochelle and Mount Vernon, with nods to Mamaroneck, to mirror exactly what happened to him 24 years ago.

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Caleb Flood can’t remember a time in his life where he wasn’t fascinated by music.
As a toddler, the Hastings resident would put on performances for his family and beat on a drum set made of pots and pans. He started taking piano at five but by eight had moved onto the guitar.
Now, you can find the 19-year-old traveling the world belting out original songs and playing a range of instruments, including the guitar, piano, bass, and drums. (He can also play ukulele, harmonica, and a few other random instruments.)

Harrison Girl Raises Money To Send Kids With Fatal Illnesses To Summer Camp
A Harrison girl is raising money to send children with life-threatening illnesses to summer camp in Maine.
Harley Dichter, 12, created a line of seven products, called Harley Dichter Designs, for a fundraiser held Saturday at Lester's in Rye Brook. Harley thought of the project in conjunction with her upcoming Bat Mitzvah at the Jewish Community Center in Harrison.
Harley's mother, Shoshana Dichter, called the fundraiser "a huge success" with about 75 to 100 patrons stopping by. About $2,000 was raised, she said.

Area Public TV Station Airs Teen's Monster Drama, 'The Rascal'
Andrey Gordon is only 17, but he already has won awards as a filmmaker.
And now, he’s set to begin filming the second season of his supernatural crime drama, “The Rascal,” on LMC-TV, Mamaroneck’s public access television station, in April.
A junior at the independent Thornton-Donovan School in New Rochelle, Andrey began working at the non-commercial local station in 2011. Since then, he has been awarded as LMC-TV’s Volunteer of the Year and recognized by The Alliance of Community Media.
