New Ellen DeGeneres Series Follows Purchase Student's Freshman Year

A SUNY Purchase student is one of six students being followed by the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Quincy Phillips, a graduate of the Summit Academy Charter School in Red Hook Brooklyn, was selected last February with a full college scholarship donated by the show and Walmart.

The Ellen DeGeneres show is now following his progress through his freshman year as part of their new "Summit Series," launched Wednesday, Nov. 8.

The six students, many of whom are attending SUNY New York schools, also received $10,000 from Walmart to help them succeed.
