To raise funds for environmental conservation efforts, Irvington High School Junior Minori Furtado has organized an art exhibition that will include works from students and seasoned artists, the Irvington Union Free School District announced on Thursday, April 4.
The exhibition, titled "Ebb & Flow," will be held at the Studio 8 art gallery in Irvington at 8 North Dutcher St. from Thursday, April 11 to Wednesday, April 17.
The effort will raise funds that will go toward protecting and preserving the Hudson River, which Furtado is deeply passionate about, district officials said.
"We are thrilled to support Minori and her initiative to promote environmental conservation through art,” said Irvington High School Principal Jon Hirsch, who continued, "Our school is committed to supporting students like Minori who want to take what she’s learned in classrooms and use that knowledge as an engaged citizen to help make the world a better place.”
Those who visit the exhibition will be able to bid on a wide variety of artworks. Any funds raised will benefit Riverkeeper, a nonprofit organization focused on protecting the Hudson River. Attendees will also be able to make donations through Furtado’s fundraising page.
